I know one of the women in the first postcard quite well. She is not married, she does not have kids, and she is not collecting royalties from these images. She is also not from the South Pacific (although she is Polynesian, and the photos were taken in Tahiti). The photos were shot in 2005, not the 1980s. She is doing well, working on her doctorate degree, and cooking chicken enchiladas as I type this comment.
